Hyperloop Station: a proposed design based on the theory of post-humanism

This project proposal attempts to design a utopian space for the future by putting the earth first while bringing equality for all people, animals and the earth. The hyperloop is a project in process based on vacuum tube travel which will bring high speed travel between cities. In the next 10 years we will be able to travel from Los Angeles to Tijuana in 18 minutes. This project is for a proposed hyperloop station located in North Hollywood California.

The Time of the Anthropocene

My project video tells the story of the disparity of human inequality and the destruction that we are doing to the earth. It attempts to bring the earth, animals, and all people to an even playing field of equality while placing the human lower down in the hierarchy pyramid.

The Transverse section runs from east to west through the building. It is looking North into the garden and seating areas.

The longitudinal section runs from north to south through the station. It shows how the new proposed building interacts with the existing Metrolink which is underground.

Algae Bioreactor DiagramMy project proposal attempts to put the earth first by creating a setup based on Algae bioreactors to produce a passive cooling system that fills the building with extra oxygen. All the materials in the station are either reused or upcycled. The way it works is by putting Algae and nutrients in the pool of water, then low voltage fans pull the water through the pipes in the floor while pushing it up into the walls.  Algae grows and blooms with the energy from the sun while capturing the CO2 in the station's atmosphere. Then some of the algae water mixture gets pulled through a filter and runs through low voltage cooling fans, then it travels through pipes in the roof and falls down the center of the station releasing oxygen and cool air into the establishment. This water also feeds the garden that surrounds the waterfall which provides food for the station.

Sleeping PodsImagine you don’t have a home, yet you have a place to sleep outside of the station. Sleeping is easy with the entrance to the pod made from an algae bioreactor which creates extra oxygen inside of the pod. Imagine sleeping and breathing in the fresh air. The pod has a shower that is activated by a foot switch that brings up the shower head and the walls around the outdoor shower for privacy. There is a clothing exchange where anyone who needs clean clothes can borrow them for the day.

First Floor

As you walk into the building you take a deep breath, smell the fresh plants and take in all the extra oxygen the algae and plants produce. The sound of the water falling and hitting the pool below is gently heard throughout the space as it brings a sense of ease. You pick an apple from the tree and some tomatoes for your breakfast. The food is so fresh, and you grab a coffee from the small café. There’s a little time before the module arrives and you see some napping pods. They are a place to rest that also have movies or music that can be enjoyed while you wait. Those with out a home, work in the station and ride the hyperloop for free so they can save money.

Second Floor

As you head to the second floor you walk up from the center of the pool surrounded by the falling water. When you get to the top There are plenty of seating options and you can watch the water as it cascades from the roof and flows down through the central atrium. Before you know it your hyperloop module has arrived and waits for you to board. As you leave the station feeling invigorated it’s time to sit back and relax on your travels and enjoy the ride.

Welcome to the future, welcome to the hyperloop.
